Annapurna Ghorepani Hill Trekking is one of the most popular adventures of moderate walks, favored by all visitors. Due to its easy proximity to the scenic city of Pokhara, where most treks and various adventure starts and ends.  The other best reason it is the shortest and most picturesque county walks around the high hills of the Annapurna Himalayas.

Trekkers can enjoy a pleasant walk amidst an enchanting forest lined with tall rhododendron, oaks, and pine trees.

Which makes a great contrast with the green hills against the bright white snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna Himalayan range. Overlooking eye-capturing views of magnificent scenery throughout the trekking until you reach the beautiful Pokhara city of natural wonders.

Annapurna Ghorepani Hill Trekking starts heading towards the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayas, and then climb lead to lovely villages.

Finally reaching the main highlight destination at Ghorepani, a nice village, located amidst the forest of rhododendron trees. In the springtime, the trek to Ghorepani will be magical, when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron.

Ghorepani area is regarded as the world’s largest natural rhododendron garden with various species of rhododendron flowers from bushes to tall trees.

Ghorepani, positioned at the base of the famous Poon Hill, an early morning hike takes you to the top of Poon Hill. Where trekkers can enjoy the mind-blowing scenery of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu Himalaya range of peaks with stunning sunrise views. Stand on the highest spot of the adventure encircled by arrays of Himalayan giant peaks. After a glorious morning being in the harmony of pristine cool surroundings, return walks on the alternative scenic route to Pokhara.

Although the walk heads uphill through lovely woods, but more or less downhill to the last mountain village of Ghandruk. The trek completes with an exciting drive back to Pokhara before heading to Kathmandu. After a rejoiceful experience on Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking.

Itinerary

On arrival at Kathmandu Nepal’s International Airport, received by guide and staff and then transfer you to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city.

Check into your rooms, after getting refreshed from Jet-Lag, then join with other members of Annapurna Ghorepani-Poon Hill Panorama trekking.

Our guide will provide briefing regarding trekking, hotels, local lodge and overland drives with do’s and don’ts. Evening welcome group dinner in authentic Nepalese restaurants with Folk cultural programs to entertain as introduction to Nepalese culture and custom.

    Having breakfast depart from the hotel for exciting sightseeing tour around Kathmandu. The city guide will show and explain of great interest, although a semi-modern city Kathmandu. But still retains its ancient glory and varied ancient culture and custom. Visiting UNESCO world heritage sites and then back to hotel afternoon free, for trek preparations.

     

      Morning transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport for short scenic flight to beautiful Pokhara city. A place of charm blessed with natural beauty of snow mountains and lakes. From Pokhara airport board in a vehicle a four-wheel drive for exciting drive to the starting point of trek from Ulleri Mountain village.  Drive leads past Pokhara valley outskirts facing marvelous scenery of Annapurna peaks and farm lands, then reaching much warmer areas of Nayapul town.As drive continues following Modi River to lovely Bhirethati village and beyond through farm villages. From Tirkhedhunga village with beautiful waterfalls, drive on winding uphill to Ulleri village for overnight stop. The village populated by Magar the hill tribes of Far West Nepal, enjoy views of Annapurna peaks.

        From Ulleri first day walk of few hours with slow climb past Bhanthati village and then following cool dense forest of tall rhododendron and pine trees.

        A slow and steady walk within lovely forested path and then reach up to high ridge, where Ghorepani top village located at the bottom of famous Poon Hill.

        Transfer into a nice lodge facing views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks, from here the temperatures get much cooler. 
         

          Early morning before dawn an hour hike up to Poon Hill, to catch stunning sunrise over Himalayan panorama. Facing 360° wide views from Dhaulagiri-Nilgiris-Vara Shikar / Annapurna Fang, and Annapurna range of peaks with Mt. Machhapuchare. The view extends to Lamjung Himal and Manaslu towards east. After a wonderful time at Poon Hill, back to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue walk with climb into rhododendron forest. As uphill leads to Deurali with grand views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks.  

          From Deurali downhill to another Bhanthati, a small settlement located in a gorge and then short down, with an hour climb reaching at Tadapani for overnight stop.

          At Tadapani transfer into a nice simple lodge facing views of Annapurna South-Huin Chuli, Machhapuchare and Annapurna-II. Tadapani located amidst dense lovely forest a scenic small settlement of Gurung people, the main tribes of Annapurna region.  
           

            Enjoy the morning views of Annapurna peaks, and then start the day walk within cool shade of rhododendron and pine forest. As downhill starts all the way to Ghandruk village for last overnight around the high hills of Annapurna Himalayas. Ghandruk, one of the largest village around southern Annapurna Himalayas, populated with Gurung hill tribe follows Buddhism religion and culture.
            At Ghandruk on checking into a nice fine lodge, having lunch with to explore around the village. Visit the village small Gurung museum, provides information of 
            the Gurung people culture and custom and traditional farm life and raising livestock.
             

              Last day walk of the short adventure, having good breakfast on downhill on nice paved cobble stone path to Kimche. A small farm villages with rows of terraces, from here our walk completes taking a vehicle for short interesting drive to Pokhara. A beautiful spot and check into a lovely hotel, located close to serene Phewa Lake side. After lunch enjoy walk around the lake side, and enjoying boat ride on the calm lake.
               

                Morning transfer to Pokhara airport for scenic short flight to Kathmandu, during air facing views of Himalayan snow peaks. Includes grand view of landscapes scenery of green hills dotted with farm fields and villages. After a short flight then landing at Kathmandu, and then transfer to your hotels with time for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.
                 

                  Last day in Nepal after a wonderful experience on Annapurna Ghorepani and Poon Hill Panorama trekking. As per flight time, transfer to airport for homeward bound or to your respective destinations.

                     Insurance policy for Medical and Travel:

                    Should cover medical insurance for illness and emergency evacuation by Helicopter or other means of transportations including other expenses on treatment at respective countries hospitals, as for travel insurance against bad unfavorable weather conditions, delay or cancellation of domestic flights on mountainous area where flight involves on the start of trek and at the end.

                    Travel and Medical Insurance also needs to cover when clients break the journey in the middle of the trip, due to sickness-personal domestic problem etc………

                      Guide and Porters: 

                    On treks or climb where you will be accompanied by our expert guide who knows the area on route of the trek chosen, we have professional and veteran guides to led the trek where you can feel comfortable, as our guide are knowledgeable offers you various information of the country from history-geography, culture to flora and fauna.

                    All guides have gone through basic medical training that includes high altitude symptoms or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) can help you with simple medical First Aid and for severe condition will support taking you to safe area or to nearest hospitals by any means of quick transportation.

                    Our guides are well versed in Eco-Trekking and Responsible Tourism as well and are committed in keeping the environment on trekking route in pristine form as it was.

                    Porters are picked can be regular porter of the company of hired in Kathmandu-Pokhara or in Lukla on start of the trekking, with always a strong and cheerful porters to carry your heavier luggage, baggage of 15 to 25 kg maximum weights to carry by each porters, we do not allow underage porters of below 16 years of age or above 50 years.

                    Porters and guide are well looked after by the company with good wages, medical insurance, travel allowance including meals on treks and climb company also provides warm gear in winter as well for high and cold altitude.

                       Clothing and footwear

                    • trekking boots (should be warm, waterproof, breathable, cover and fix the ankle)
                    •  sports sandals with a closed toe or sneakers.
                    •  flip flops , Sun cap , Wool or fleece hat , 2 pairs of gloves/mittens (1 thin, 1 thick,}
                    • Bandana or neckerchief ,  Fleece jackets (1 thin, 1 thick) .
                    • Thermal underwear (merino wool!), preferably 2 sets (one for walking, the other for sleeping), buy at home.
                    • Trekking socks - several pairs (there is a limited possibility of washing)
                    •  Quick-drying sports T-shirts (e.g. Polartec PowerDry) - 2 pcs. or more.
                    •  Down jacket , Windstopper , Windproof warm jacket with hood.
                    • Trekking trousers ,  Warm synthetic pants like ski pants , Rain poncho.
                    • Sun Screen Cream , Sunglasses ,  Trekking pole , Water bottle.

                        Equipment

                     *Duffel bags for trek will be perovided on Day 2 should be returned after the trek is over.

                     *Backpack 20-30 liters with rain cover (optionally with drinking system)

                    *Sleeping bag (comfort temperature around -5 C). On the upper lodges they usually provide woolen blankets. You can rent a sleeping bag in       Kathmandu, $1-2 per day.

                    *A good quality headlight with new batteries and a spare set of batteries.

                     *Sunglasses (category 3-4) + hard case , Trekking poles , Thermos 0.5-1 liter.

                    *Sealed packaging for documents and money , Sitting mat (optionally), Power bank.

                    * A roll of dense garbage bags 50 liters. You will pack your items in it when you put them in a duffel bag to protect them from moisture and dust.

                    Annapurna Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking FAQs

                    • It is one of the most popular and moderate treks around all of Himalayas region. Depends on the start of the treks, either drive straight to Ulleri, or enjoy steep climb on stone steps to Ulleri village. Rest of the walk on gradual uphill path, with an hour climb to Poon Hill. The return journey before Pokhara reaching Ghandruk village with exciting ups and down. But an enjoyable walks with superb views of Annapurna peaks all the way to Pokhara.

                    • All age-group as well as family with young children can enjoy this short moderate treks to Ghorepani and Poon Hill. Including elderly people of more than 70 years can also enjoy the walk taking slow pace, and having enough rest in between the treks. The views and beautiful surrounding of lovely rhododendron forest makes the walk enjoyable.

                    • The facilities en route treks, staying overnights in nice cozy lodge with options for attached bath and toilets or common toilets. Ghorepani and Ghandruk can have the choices, but in few place like Tadapani having rooms with common bath and toilets. The rooms are nice and clean with large warm dining serving excellent quality of foods as per the choice from the menu. Offers Continental, Chinese, Indian and Nepali foods and snacks for afternoon tea time. All lodges have electricity either run by Hydro or Solar Power to charge electronic items.

                      All lodges offers hot and cold showers at extra cost for people using common bath.

                    • One of the great morning hike to experience, it is well worth an hour early morning climb to Poon Hill.                     • Spring season from March to May, the whole mid-hills of Annapurna Himalayas will be lively. When wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, trekkers can witness all beautiful colors of rhododendron flowers. From bright red, light red, maroon, white and shade of blue and purple from tall tress to bush rhododendron.
                      Includes magnolia, primula of various species and dandelion with all types of violets and exotic plants.
