Your standard Kathmandu to Langtang Trek starts with an exhilarating drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. In the Kathmandu to Syabrubesi drive, you will move past the incredible landscapes of the hilly area and follow the trail alongside the Trishuli River. Before you reach your destination, you will also pass through the beautiful village of Dhunche. Your trekking adventure starts the next day, and you will follow the uphill reach to reach the Lama Hotel, a popular resting destination in Langtang Valley.

Then, moving further in your trekking journey, you will trek past the Langtang Village to reach the Kyanjin Gompa, one of the significant monasteries in the valley. However, your exploration doesn’t end here; the next day, you will hike to the highest vantage point of the Langtang Valley, Tsergo Ri.

After enjoying the panoramic views of the Himalayan massifs in the region, glaciers, and lush valleys from the top of this incredible vantage point, you will then descend down to Kyanjin. Then, after the next day’s hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters), you will make your descend on the same trekking route to the Lama Hotel. However, from here, it is time to move on to the next highlights of this exciting Himalayan exploration. Following the trails across Thulo Syabru Village (2,210 meters) and Sing Gompa (2,210 meters), you will reach the pristine glacial lake of Gosaikunda (4,380 meters).

From there, you will then trek down to Dhunche Village (1,950 meters) and drive back to Kathmandu from there. How Difficult is This Trek?

Kathmandu to Langtang Trek in overall, is a milder form of Himalayan adventure. As there aren’t any significant challenges or technical sections along the trekking trails, this exploration is considered one of the easiest among the mainstream trekking adventures in Nepal.

You will not move to significant altitude jump points or have to cover a high Himalayan pass during this trek. Starting your journey at Syabrubesi (1,470 meters), you will move along the high-elevation points of the valley like Langtang Village (3,307 meters) and Kyanjin Gompa (3,794 meters).

The highest point of this entire trek is the Tsergo Ri (4,985 meters) viewpoint; if you find trekking to this high altitude point difficult, you also have the option to hike to another popular vantage point, Kyanjin Ri (4,773 meters). Even though the altitude gain is not that significant, you will still need to be careful about the altitude sickness and follow appropriate precautionary methods.

Similarly, the overall trekking distance of the Langtang Trek is about 79 km (49 miles); you will trek for about 5-6 hours during each day of exploration. As this is a slow-paced excursion, you will walk slowly and take a shorter breather along the way during the trek.
